We hope you and your loved ones are continuing to keep safe in these unprecedented times.

The once in a century COVID-19 pandemic has been difficult for all Australians, including our members in the real estate sector. The health crisis has required the introduction and maintenance of social distancing measures which have impacted our sector, the economy and our way of life.

We would like to update you on how REI Super has been managing your retirement savings since our last update in March.

Webinar with Jarrod Coysh and REINSW

The REINSW recently invited REI Super to help address some of the questions REINSW members and staff have regarding superannuation matters in the current environment.

Early release of super

The Government has announced new financial assistance measures to aid Australians experiencing financial difficulty as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. If you are in financial stress as a result of coronavirus you may be able to access up to $10,000 from your super account in 2019-2020 and a further $10,000 in 2020-2021.

COVID-19 and pension minimum drawdown

If you have a pension, or a transition to retirement account, the government have introduced a temporary relief measure of reducing the minimum drawdown payment amounts which could be of benefit to you.

Protecting your super from COVID-19 scams

There are currently COVID-19 (Coronavirus) themed phishing emails and SMSs in circulation. If you are approached about paying a fee to release your super, it is likely to be scam.

The Australian Taxation Office is managing all claims for the early release of super through the myGov online service. There is no need to involve a third party or pay a fee to get access under this scheme.
